The Creative Alliance of New Orleans opens a new exhibition at the River House at Crevasse 22.
The Creative Alliance of New Orleans (CANO), in partnership with the Torres/Burns Trust, presents “The Spirit of the People of St. Bernard: Portraits and Videos” at the River House at Crevasse 22. The exhibition celebrates the varied residents of St. Bernard Parish, including the Isleños—descendants of the settlers from the Canary Islands—farmers, hunters, workers, and artists. It emphasizes the recovery of St. Bernard Parish after Katrina and the unique contributions of the parish to the culture of the region at large.
The exhibition includes work by Blake Boyd, Keith Calhoun, Chandra McCormick, Jonathan Traviesa, and Monique Verdin and will be open through September. “The Spirit of the People of St. Bernard” is part of a series of exhibitions and events presented by CANO on the tenth anniversary of Katrina.
This reception is free and open to the public.
