The Creative Alliance of New Orleans presents a multi-disciplinary performance reflecting on the Ninth Ward’s recovery and struggles after Hurricane Katrina.
The Creative Alliance of New Orleans (CANO) presents the “9th Ward Improv Opera,” a performance attempting to capture the community’s reactions and responses to Hurricane Katrina’s destruction of much of the neighborhood. The “Improv Opera” incorporates a variety of disciplines—including spoken word, music, dance, and the visual arts—and highlights the work of residents of the Lower Ninth Ward and New Orleans.
CANO will host a performance on August 27 at 7 pm at St. Maurice Church (605 St. Maurice Avenue). Tickets are available here.
A second free performance with expanded community participation will take place on August 28 at 7 pm at the Andrew P. Sanchez Community Center (1616 Caffin Avenue), as part of the Lower 9 Resilience Festival.
