The Newcomb Art Museum of Tulane University hosts a reception to open “Beyond the Canvas: Contemporary Art from Puerto Rico,” a group exhibition that looks at how works by five Puerto Rican artists challenge conceptions of paintings as flat surfaces. The exhibition includes works by Elsa María Meléndez, Arnaldo Roche Rabell, Zilia Sánchez, Julio Suárez, and Pedro Vélez.
