"Foodways" is a multimedia pop-up exhibition presented by Pelican Bomb on view October 25, 2014 - January 25, 2015 at the future home of the New Orleans Culinary and Hospitality Institute.

Exhibition Hours: Wednesday - Sunday, 11 am - 5 pm

How do we preserve our local and regional cultures in a country where defining interests are often pushing towards sameness? In spite of great demographic, economic, and environmental change, New Orleans has shown America that food is a powerful way to honor unique histories and heritage across generations.

"Foodways" unites contemporary artists whose work engages regional practices related to the growing, preparation, and sharing of food as a means to maintain and transfer traditions. It includes painting, photography, sculpture, video, and installation by a range of artists working throughout the country who have focused their work in or around the American South.

Throughout its exhibition run, "Foodways" offers a dynamic roster of evening and weekend public programs featuring local chefs, historians, food personalities, and community organizations.

"Foodways" is generously supported by grants from the Helis Foundation and the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Foundation. Special thanks to the New Orleans Culinary and Hospitality Institute for the gracious donation of exhibition space.
