Weeki Wachee rightfully bills itself as “the only city of live mermaids.” Look up population data and you’ll find sources reporting one to thirteen actual residents, nevertheless the tiny city lures thousands of visitors each year to its cool springs and magical mermaid show. Photographer Luke Johnson has gone behind the scenes to share one of Florida’s oldest roadside attractions.
