Indywood Cinema’s space on Elysian Fields Avenue has been closed for the past few months, while the theater has been looking for a new location. A donor just purchased a new space for Indywood, and they are launching a Kickstarter campaign to help cover the costs for renovations and new equipment. The new location will include two screens, a film library, a café, and a bar!
To benefit their Kickstarter campaign, Indywood is hosting a garage sale of the furniture, clothing, and goods left behind in their new space. (The building was slated to become a thrift store, but it never opened.) The garage sale starts at 2 pm. The Big Beat (2014), a documentary about Fats Domino that premiered at last year’s New Orleans Film Festival, screens at 5 and 7 pm.
