A conference in celebration of the 30th anniversary of the book Flash of the Spirit.

The Ogden Museum of Southern Art and Prospect New Orleans are organizing a conference celebrating the 30th anniversary of the publishing of Flash of the Spirit: African & Afro-American Art & Philosophy by art historian Robert Farris Thompson. The conference will take place December 11 - 12 at the Ogden Museum of Southern Art. It will be held in conjunction with the exhibition "Basquiat and the Bayou," by artist Jean-Michel Basquiat, who was greatly influenced by Thompson's book.

Events are free and open to the public, but registration is required.
