The New Orleans Film Society co-presents a screening of Bush Mama with the Contemporary Arts Center.

Visit the Contemporary Arts Center for a screening of Bush Mama (1979), as part of the New Orleans Film Society's six-film series, "Power and Resistance," spotlighting films about individuals and organizations unafraid to stand up, fight back, and start revolutions.

Inspired after seeing a black woman in Chicago evicted in the middle of winter, Bush Mama is director Haile Gerima’s powerful, shockingly realist portrait of inner-city poverty tracing an impoverished single mother’s journey from apathy to activism.
