A roving shop celebrates art and design from Africa and the diaspora.
SUPAFRIK—a shop highlighting contemporary art and design from Africa and the diaspora—opens at the Joan Mitchell Center on Thursday, November 12. The shop includes a selection of goods from Osei-duro (Accra), DOPEciety (New Orleans), Chinedesign (Toronto), and Blkkangaroo (Toronto). SUPAFRIK will also present a selection of art and art objects from Material Life NOLA, including limited edition works by Kehinde Wiley and Chris Ofili.
Food will be provided by Black Swan Food Experience.
SUPAFRIK opens in conjunction with the exhibition “Nesting: The Makings of Home,” featuring works by Shoshanna Weinberger, Shannon Lewis, Heather Hart, Patrick Melon, and Rebecca Mwasse. Events continue throughout the weekend; to learn more and RSVP, click here.
