Artist Lynda Benglis discusses her career and the restoration of her recently rediscovered monumental sculpture, now on view in City Park.
Following the dedication of her large-scale bronze sculpture in City Park, Lynda Benglis discusses her career and the process of restoring The Wave of the World, which was originally presented as part of the 1984 World’s Fair. Benglis speaks with Katie Pfohl, Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art at the New Orleans Museum of Art.
The Wave of the World was recently rediscovered after three decades in storage and will be on view near City Park’s Big Lake until June 2019. In case you missed it, Pelican Bomb featured The Wave as our Exhibition Pick for the week of September 7!
A public dedication of The Wave begins at 10:30 am at the Big Lake, followed by the talk at NOMA at 11:30 am. The event is free, but a reservation is required.
