Whitney White Linen Night, the annual fundraiser for the Contemporary Arts Center, will take place this year on Saturday, August 2, 6 - 11 pm, in the 300-700 blocks of Julia Street and along the area's adjacent streets. The official White Linen Night After-Party will be held at the CAC, with DJ sets from Bouffant, Bouffant and DVRA, in addition to performances by artists from "Mark of the Feminine."
Gallery exhibitions that evening, which will be open 6 - 9 pm, include:
"Mark of the Feminine," a group show curated by Regine Basha, at the CAC (900 Camp St).
"Third Coast Suite" by Francis X. Pavy, "Segregation Story" by Gordon Parks, and "I Don't Understand," by Robert Hannant, all at Arthur Roger Gallery (432 and 434 Julia St).
"Unsung" by Margaret Munz-Losch and Bob Snead's "Accomodations," both at Jonathan Ferrara Gallery (400 Julia St).
"Sputnik 2" at the Boyd Satellite Gallery (440 Julia St).
"Glimmer Steady Inside the Stone," a solo show of paintings and drawings by Nathan Durfee, at Le Mieux Galleries (332 Julia St).
"Louisiana Contemporary," a juried group exhibition of contemporary local art; "Shawn Hall's Pastoral Universe;" "One Place: Paul Kwilecki and Four Decades of Photographs from Decatur County, Georgia;" "Rolland Golden: An Alternate Vision;" and "Chapter of the Links, HBCU Art Showcase," all at the Ogden Museum of Southern Art (925 Camp St).
The CAC reception is $10 general **admission and free for CAC members.**
