Directed by Stephanie McKee, GOMELA/to return: Movement of Our Mother Tongue is an original dance theater performance that highlights the stories of New Orleans’ African American communities through traditional African dance and drumming, contemporary jazz, spoken word, and hip-hop. Performances feature artist-poet Sunni Patterson, trumpeter Troy Sawyer, and Kumbuka African Drum and Dance Collective.
Performances will take place on November 23 at 4 and 6:30 pm.
Tickets are $20 for the general public and $10 for students and can be purchased at the door or online at Brown Paper Tickets.
