The Historic New Orleans Collection (THNOC) will host a talk Saturday, September 7, 2-4 pm, in conjunction with the exhibition “Alternative Imprints: Jon Webb, Gypsy Lou, and the Hand-Sewn World of the Loujon Press” at the Williams Research Center (410 Chartres St). The exhibition explores the work of 1960s counterculture artists and publishers Jon and Louise “Gypsy Lou” Webb, and centers on items from the collection of Edwin J. Blair, who befriended the Webbs as a young man in the 1960s and donated his Loujon Press memorabilia to THNOC in 2012. Participants in the talk include Edwin J. Blair; art collector and owner of Upperline Restaurant, JoAnn Clevenger; and poet and scholar of Charles Bukowski, Neeli Cherkovski.
“Alternative Imprints: Jon Webb, Gypsy Lou, and the Hand-Sewn World of the Loujon Press” will be on view in the Williams Research Center through Saturday, November 16. For more information on the exhibition, click here.
