Barrister’s Gallery presents “Somos Humanos/We Are Human: Latino Immigrants & the Reconstruction of New Orleans_,” _a pop-up exhibition and performance by José Torres-Tama. The exhibition includes works on paper, photographic assemblages, and mixed media drawings by Torres-Tama, as well as a video installation by Alberto Romero.
The opening reception is Saturday, July 20, 6-10 pm, at Barrister’s Gallery (2331 St. Claude Ave), and Torres-Tama will perform a new version of ALIENS, IMMIGRANTS, & OTHER EVILDOERS in collaboration with musician Jonathan Freilich at 8 pm. The exhibition is on view from July 18 to July 31, and coincides with the National Council of La Raza Conference taking place July 20-23 in New Orleans. A closing reception will take place Tuesday, July 30, 6-9 pm, at Barrister's Gallery.
