Do You See What I’m Hearing?

On Friday, May 17, Antenna Gallery (3718 St. Claude Ave) presents “Do You See What I’m Hearing?,” an evening of film and music with Gerry Fialka, Suzy Williams, and Brad Kay, from 7-10 pm. The evening will begin with “Pixelvision: Electronic Fold Art As McLuhan,” during which Gerry Fialka will host interactive film screenings and a workshop on the Fisher Price PXL 2000 toy video camera. Fialka will explore the significance of this raw DIY moving image art tool through the percepts of individuals such as Marshall McLuhan, George Seaurat, Salvador Dali, James Joyce, Marcel Duchamp, John Cage, and Frank Zappa. Following Fialka’s presentation, Suzy Williams and Brad Kay will present “The Lit Show” at 8:30 pm. Williams and Kay will play live jazz and blues, performing songs based on words by Kurt Vonnegut, Edna St Vincent Millay, J.D. Salinger, Samuel Beckett, Raymond Chandler, Truman Capote, Vladimir Nabokov, and Rudyard Kipling.

This event is free and open to the public.
