In conjunction with its “Self Taught Artists from the Permanent Collection” exhibition, NOMA will be screening the 30-minute documentary Passionate Visions of the American South (1993) on April 6 at 8 pm.
The documentary was filmed in partnership with WYES on the occasion of NOMA’s 1993 exhibition “Passionate Visions of the American South: Self Taught Artists from 1940 to the Present.” The documentary features the works of Jimmy Lee Sudduth, Howard Finster, and Purvis Young, who all currently have works on view in NOMA’s Great Hall.
