Not too long ago, our very own Pelican Bomb writer, Nathan C. Martin, wrote a two-part feature about the New Orleans-based fine-press publisher of the 1960s, Loujon Press. Both articles (Part 1 and Part 2) examine the successes and failures of Loujon Press' artistic bookmaking, while also noting its legacy.
"Running the Gamut," hosted by the New Orleans GlassWorks & Printmaking Studio, will be exhibiting first editions from Loujon Press, including published works by Charles Bukowski and Henry Miller. The exhibition will also include original printing blocks from their literary magazine, The Outsider.
In addition to the Loujon Press exhibit, nine printmaking and book artists will also be featured: Stirling Barrett, Pam Caruso, Melissa Clark, Tish Douzart, Yuka Petz & Carol Hayman, Lynne Hubner, Amanda McInerney, and Cathy Savage.
For more information visit New Orleans GlassWorks & Printmaking Studio.
The opening reception is March 15, from 10 am to 8 pm, and the exhibition will be on view through March.
Admission: Free and open to the public.
