Brace Raeburn, Curator of the Hogan Jazz Archive at Tulane University, will present and discuss two films from the Louisiana State Museum collection on the history of jazz. Eureka Brass Band (1962) and Jerry Brock’s In That Number: The New Orleans Brass Band Revival (1987) both provide insight into the history of jazz in New Orleans and the discussion will also focus on the impact of Hurricane Katrina on this musical tradition. The screenings and discussion will be at the Old U.S. Mint on Friday, March 2 at 2 pm.
