Hard Truths: The Art of Thornton Dial

On Friday, March 2 at 6:45 pm, curator Joanne Cubbs will conduct a guided tour of the "Hard Truths: The Art of Thornton Dial" at NOMA. The exhibition of 40 paintings, drawings, and sculptures highlights a range of work by one of America’s premier self-taught artists spanning the past 20 years and includes 25 new pieces originally presented by the Indianapolis Museum of Art.

In conjunction with the Dial exhibit, on view through May 20, 2012, NOMA will also be exhibiting works by other self-taught artists from the museum’s collection including Sam Doyle, Pervis Young, Sister Gertrude Morgan, William Hawkins, and Clementine Hunter.
