The New Orleans Mardi Gras Indian Council and R.E.A.L. present Super Sunday 2011. Super Sunday is an annual festival celebrating the Mardi Gras Indian Tribes and their annual suits. This year’s event features a parade of the New Orleans Mardi Gras Indian Tribes, musical performances by the Hot 8 Brass Band, Soul Rebels, Troop Brass Band, Marcel Richardson, Big Al Carson, B.R.W. Singing Group, DJ Captain Charles, Joe Cool Davis, DJ Jubilee, as well as appearances from the Young Men Olympians, Lady BuckJumpers, Lady Divas, and many more.
The festival begins at A.L. Davis Park, located at Washington Avenue and LaSalle Street, at 11:00 am. At 1:00 pm the parade begins from Washington Avenue and LaSalle Street.
The parade route is as follows:
The procession will begin at A.L. Davis Park on Washington Avenue and LaSalle Street, moving onto Simon Bolivar Avenue, then turning left onto Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, turning left onto Claiborne Avenue, turning left onto Washington Avenue and culminating back at A.L. Davis Park on Washington Avenue and LaSalle Street with cultural activities and live musical performances.
